FIESTA FILIPINO - 2014 LAS VEGAS NEVADA

FIESTA FILIPINO 2014, held it's 6th annual fiesta event at the Lorenzi Park in Las Vegas.
The event featured local and international entertainers and was participated by several multi
cultural group from the Hispanic community to the Hawaiian Islanders and from the Philippines,
the delegation from Cebu accompanied by the beautiful Miss Cebu herself. The event was also
attended by politicians, notably the guest speaker Senator Harry Reid who has been in relation
with the Filipino community from as far back as I could remember. So close to the Pinoys in
Las Vegas that he was even endorsed by Manny Pacquiao in his last bid for re-election.
Another darling to the Pinoys in Las Vegas is our very own the Honorable JUDGE
CHERYL MOSS who has been serving the Las Vegas community since 2001 as a Family
Court Judge, is seeking for her re-election in in November 2014, since she does not have a

Sheriff candidate Ted Moody, was also on hand at  the event who by the way also had a
booth. He went around meeting the community and got up on the stage and opened
up with "Magandang Hapon po" and closed his short talk with "Salamat po".  Then we have
another Filipino running for the State Assembly Mr. Joe Tinio, whom I have personally urged
in the past to run for office. Then there is Ron Q. Quilang who is running for State Senator and
to all of the Pinoy candidate, good luck to all and to the Filipino community, let us support
our Pinoy candidates. 

As to the organizers of the FIESTA FILIPINO,NAFFAA congratulations to a good job 

well done. You have again awaken the spirit of the Filipinos and exhibited the culture of the 

Filipinos and kept alive in the hearts and in the young minds of our young Filipino Americans, 

what they are as a race and what they can look forward to as Filipinos. Though we tend to 

blend to our community that we forget we are pinoys, there are people and organizations 

like NAFFAA who keeps reminding all of us, we are Filipinos. Quoting from Florante

MANNY PACQUIAO BY UNANIMOUS DECISION

Congressman, Singer, Religious, Eight times World Champion, redeemed himself and took back the welterweight belt that he controversially lost 2 years ago. Manny Pacquiao won with a unanimous decision with the judges giving him a 116-112, 118-110 and 116-112 all for Pacquiao, Bradley acknowledged Manny by saying that he, Pacquiao was the true champion and he won the fight. The exotic Jessica Sanchez sang the Philippine national anthem and she look stunning in her red gown.

What is next for the champion Manny Pacquiao? will he be running for a major political  position or will he fight again and when? ................... How about it Mayweather, might be time for you to fight a real champion like you. PACQUIAO - BRADLEY 2 PRESS CONFERENCE

The usual procedures in conducting a press conference was presented by promoter Bob Arum, with a twist. Richard Sturm, MGM President of entertainment and sports, was sarcastically introduced by Bob Arum as the president of poster hanging, and this is because Mayweather vs Maidana fight which is not until 3rd of May had a poster on the side of MGM, prominently displayed and the Pacquaio - Bradley poster in a less noticeable locations.Well, Mr. Arum at the closing of the press conference expressed his unhappy feelings about the mishandled poster situation and even comparing two properties where one property (Venetian) making billions and the other (MGM) trying to make their payments. After the lambasting, Bob Arum said, that if what he said was incendiary, he apologize and that he is an old man. I was cracking up on that remark " I am an old man" as this is my 73 years old brothers favorite expression when he is trying to get away from what ever situation he would like to get away from. At any rate everything else went as it should, with both camps saying that they have prepared and trained real hard for this fight. I guess both fighter have something to prove, that he, Bradley confirmedly won the first fight and he is the true champion and for Manny Pacquiao to confirm that he won the last fight. MANNY PACQUIAO ARRIVES AT THE MGM GRAND HOTEL AND CASINO

The pre hype events for the Pacquiao - Bradley 2 has started at the MGM. Manny Pacquiao was welcomed by a large crowd at the MGM lobby. Fans from all over, mainly Filipinos also present was a cultural group called FILIPINIANA who came in in their beautiful Maria Clara for the women and the men in their world famous barong tagalog, represented the Filipino community of Las Vegas. But the Mexican fans not to be overshadowed, came in with their own group waving a mexican flag in support of the champion. Young hispanic men seeking autograph on posters they created for Pacquiao. I also met a gentleman Curtis Hunt, from Michigan who owns a bar and boxing museum with a replica belt that he had Manny Pacquiao signed, which he was able to, after battling the tons of fans together with the media people, all with one direction and that's towards Pacquiao as he descended from his his famous bus at the MGM lobby. The arrival on April 8, was followed by the final press conference the next day at the Hollywood Theater, which only open to people with credentials and that is mainly the media people. Lunch is served at the presscon and if I may say the Pacquiao press conference serves some of the best food ever. Following this eventsis the very popular and well attended "weigh in" where a turn out of about six thousand fans of both fighters will show up. RED ROCK CANYON - LAS VEGAS

The miss-conception about Las Vegas is, there is no life outside of the strip!. I do not want to get into the details of real state dilemma when foreclosure was happening in every corner of the city and at present, the total contrast as there is not enough inventory that housing construction has flourish again. Now, outside the world famous Las Vegas strip, are tourist spots that shows the terrain, landscape and the true beauty of Las Vegas with out the neon lights. I have included photographs of Red Rock Canyon which is a part of the National Landscape Conservation System located about 15 miles west of Las Vegas. This beautiful landscape is visited by about 1 million visitors from all over the world. The rock formation and the color of the rock mountain dominates the landscape of the whole canyon against the clear blue sky. The pictures below are taken from the vista park overlook of the canyon on the early days of the spring of 2014.
